It's been a distinctly 'non-Crusaders' 2 weeks. The last time I wrote here we were in the middle of convincing ourselves that running 26.2 miles in Limerick definitely wasn't going to be a marathon, just a long training run. Well the good news is...it worked!
We all got through it relatively unscathed...it wasn't exactly a walk inthe park - the day was hot and muggy and there was one reasonably heavy shower - but we got through it and managed to get back running the next day...if only for a few miles of recovery... the power of positive thinking indeed!
The following Saturday we were able to hit the roads again for another 11 miles - normally I'm just re-learning to walk at that stage! We all gathered in DNG as usual. We were expecting only a small bunch as we'd heard that there was a HUGE crowd for Darkness Into Light, but there was a sizeable group of Crusaders there for the 10K.
On Saturday afternoon it was off to Lough Boora for what we called " A May Moment"...this was our second annual "Moment" organised for family and friends and is more about food and fun than running, but we raised much needed funds for the Irish Hospice Foundation. Lough Boora as a hidden gem about an hour and a half from Ennis - well worth a visit and good for a run too! - www.loughboora.com

So, I hear you say...what's all this got to do with Portumna?
Well...these are all positive steps along the way to standing on that start line at 7am on June 13th to face into a 50K run...just 5 more weeks to go, a couple more long runs and training will be done...can't wait...
